Hey guys!!! My name is Vinessa and I’m a fourth year at the college and in Cadenza (a2/bass in da house). I love baking, books, candles, and taking pictures, but I hate turning on the big light (lamps and string lights 4evaaaa). I spent this past summer learning German and getting ready for another year of being with this amazing group of humans and making beautiful music!! That’s all for now, vdogfrizzie outtt!

Oh hey, I, uh, didn’t see ya there. Pleasure to make your acquaintance. I’m Leah a fourth year from Houston, TX. When I’m not singing with the group, I can be found doing the NYT games in Crerar, enjoying a Vietnamese coffee at the Quantum Cafe, or maintaining my lack of online presence. I love charcoal drawing, tree climbing, and perfectly ripe mangoes. Some of my other hobbies include piano, dermatology, and sarcasm. I can’t wait for another year of inside jokes and music. :)

Heyyy!! I’m a third year at the college and both a soprano/alto in Cadenza. I love tea, reggaeton, CHOREO REHEARSALS, and going on runs in hyde park in the fall! You’ll likely find me doing work in Harper, hanging out with my friends at OLAS events, or humming to myself while I walk around campus lol.

Hi! I’m a third year at the college, and I sing soprano for Cadenza. Outside of rehearsals, I enjoy playing violin, reading a good book, and going on runs. I also love exploring the city and watching thrillers at hours when I should probably be asleep. If you spot me on campus, it’s probably because I’m experimenting with a new study spot or at a cafe debating whether or not I really need another coffee. I’m excited for another year of making great music and memories with the group!

Hi! I'm a third year from Princeton, NJ and I sing alto 1 (or sometimes some other parts and vp). I joined Cadenza my first year and I am Music Director of the group this year! I am studying abroad in London this fall as an exchange student at King’s College London. When I'm not singing, I spend my free time volunteering, hiking, playing guitar, or working at reSOURCE (thrift store on campus). I can always be found with either a coffee or tea in hand (all of my money goes to the on campus coffee shops…). I'm so excited to compete at ICCA this year and to continue arranging music for future concerts and performances!

Zaida is a second-year alto from right outside of D.C. When she’s not in rehearsal, you can usually find her in a Goodspeed practice room, studying somewhere in Harper or Crerar (NEVER the Reg) or strolling through campus blasting classic rock music from her trusty knock-off AirPods. She loves playing piano and guitar, reading, drinking obscene amounts of tea, and rewatching one particular adaptation of a 19th century French play. She is SO excited for her second year with Cadenza and these amazing people, and she can’t wait to meet even more!

Ava is a Second Year and Alto 1/Soprano 2 from Washington, DC. She plans on majoring in French (RLL), Global Studies, and Comparative Literature. When she isn’t rehearsing with Cadenza, you can find her in any of the campus cafes (probably doing work or chatting). If you want to talk books, movies, news, gossip, or any pop culture, she’s your girl! Ava is so excited to plan some amazing socials and sing with Cadenza this year!

Charese is a second year at the college, who sings Sop 2! Outside of Cadenza, she’s usually hunting for the next perfect tea mug, flipping through old records, or binging romcoms with a sweet treat in hand. She has a soft spot for studying in Logan Café and loves chatting about everything from Gossip Girl drama to why her latest romcom obsession is the best one yet. She’s excited for another year of music, laughter, and learning from all the incredible talent around her!

Hey y'all! My name is Chloe and I'm a second year at the college and a Soprano 2/Alto 1 in Cadenza. When I'm not singing with Cadenza, you can catch me dancing with the UChicago Maya Dance Company, working at the hospital, or dying in Ratner. I am almost always equipped with a caffeinated beverage and my AirPod Maxes. Other things I love include updating my beli, going for long walks or runs on the lakefront trail, and jumping in the Point. I'm so excited to create more memories with Cadenza this year!

Hi, my name is Abby! I am a Master’s of Social Work student at UChicago and a soprano in Cadenza! I joined Cadenza to have an outlet for my love of singing in a group while working on my masters. I like to explore new places, and my goals in life are to travel the world and to advocate for underrepresented communities. Hi! I’m Simone, a proud member of Cadenza and also one of Cadenza’s big fans. I usually sing Soprano 2, Mezzo, and Alto 1 (and occasionally Soprano 1). I love wandering into theaters and museums, and I also enjoy long walks around the city—unless the weather is extreme. So if I’m not at rehearsal, you can probably find me in one of those places. Otherwise, I’m most likely at Harper Library or the Joe and Rika Mansueto Library. If you spot someone with a little plushie next to her laptop, that’s probably me:)

Hello! I’m Kaleigh and a masters student in music! I just joined Cadenza as a soprano this year mostly because of my two lovely roommates Leah and Vinessa. When I’m not singing I’m playing bass in my band called The Sleaze (or Sleazy Disco…we can’t agree). I love baking, writing music reviews, my cat Winnie, and being really annoying about bands like Geese, Joyce Manor, and LCD Soundsystem. I can usually be found at any cafe reading album reviews, asking numerous questions to my favorite professor in Goodspeed, or at the lake listening to music and swimming. While this will be my only year with Cadenza, I’ve had so much fun so far and can’t wait for ICCAs!

Echo is a fourth year at the university studying game design through the media, arts, and design program! When not in Cadenza rehearsal, you can find them leading the charge as music director of Run For Cover, another acapella group on campus, shelving books in the reg, or doing anything and everything in the MADD Center! If prompted, she will talk to you for hours about a board game you've never heard of or the time signature of the decade-old chiptune album she's been listening to on repeat. They are very excited to sing with Cadenza this year!!!
